Amway provides Broad MBAs with Lean Six Sigma training | MSU Broad College of Business

Trainers expound on concepts for the student.

Amway partnered with the Demmer Center for Business Transformation to offer Broad College of Business MBA and undergraduate students the opportunity to experience one of Amway’s Lean Six Sigma training sessions required for their Yellow Belt Program.

On March 28, students spent the afternoon discussing and practicing proper project definition skills in a session led by Amway employees involved in the company’s continuous improvement programs. The training assisted students in developing project charters, SIPOCs, and stakeholder maps—and using them to understand the change management process.

“There is a great essaysonline credibility to what the Amway team has said,” noted Matthew Scanlon (BA Supply Chain Management ’14). “The skills they’ve taught us are ones they believe in and use on a daily basis to improve lean project processes.”

The partnership grows out of Amway’s interest in working with Michigan State University to hire students that meet the company’s business needs for talent with lean enterprise skills.

“These types of programs and partnerships are what differentiates us from other universities,” said Donny Nguyen (MBA Supply Chain Management ’15). As one of the Demmer Center lean apprentices working with Amway, Nguyen helped to coordinate the training event for the benefit of other supply chain students.
